So, here's the deal. It looks like Ktycer has completely dropped off the radar, both Mary and I have been sending emails to him and he has not responded after many attempts. Unfortunately he has Cakebreath's moleskine, so none of us can work on it until we get a hold of him. Cakebreath has told me that she is going to be busy for awhile, and won't be able to work on Carlos's moleskine. So until we get that from her that only leaves three books in circulation (Mary's, Yoda's, and Mine), which we are close to finishing. So I guess Mary should send LadyO's book to me, and Yoda should send my book to Carlos. I sent Mary's book to Carlos, and when he's done he will send it to Yoda. After that we will have done all we can do until we get Carlo's book back from Cakebreath. While we are waiting, if you guys want, we can get new books and start over again with just the four of us, and if Ktycer and Cakebreath want to join in again at any time they can. Let me know what you guys think.

A Rat, A Pigeon, and Lots of Hair

So here is my piece for Mary's book. Sorry it took so long to post these pics. I have been having some computer issues. Right after I recieved Mary's book in the mail I had a dream that there was a mouse, a rat, and a pigeon in my bed. They kept getting tangled in the sheets and in my hair and I was afraid that I was going to roll over and hurt one of them. I frequently have dreams about rats and mice, but the hair was a definite mztapper influence, so here is my depiction of the dream for her book.

To answer your question, Lady Orlando, I guess you should send it to Cakebreath. She should be getting Ktycer's next, but since he's not finished she doesn't have anything to work on now. Just contact her to get the address and send Chensio's back off to Europe! Does this sound cool with you Cakebreath?
Sorry you won't have one right away Lady O, there were some mailing issues with mine and it got sent back to me so Mary hasn't started yet, but I have started hers so I guess if I finish first I will send Mary's to you.
Mary-I mailed my book 2-3 day US Postal Service, so if they are on time you should get it friday or sat.

I figured that since this blog is supposed to be like a document of the exchange - not only just the finished works that come out the collaboration between a bunch of international artists, but also the process behind them - I decided to post some photos of the evolution of my first entry. For the next rounds it would be cool to see some pictures of everyone else's process too. I always like to see how other artists work, and how a piece can evolve and change throughout the course of it's creation.

I also have a question. I've noticed some of you have only been using 2.5-3 pages for your piece, and I used 4.5, I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't miscalculating and using too much space. With 30 pages per moleskine, and 6 members that makes 5 pages each, right? It actually was kind of difficult for me to stretch my piece out across almost 5 pages, and figure out how to hold together such a long skinny compostion. So if you guys used less pages for formal reasons, or whatever, that's totally cool, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't using too much space.

Here is my piece, I am finally done!! I got a little carried away (sorry Mary!) and cut up my original drawing into collage material for this one. I still wish I could work on it a bit more, but I know I need to get it off to Mary, especially since LadyO has already finished her second round (awesome work!!). I have two possible options for my piece (the two pics above), with or without the collaged black clouds and my tree drawing. I have to mail it tomorrow because today is a holiday here in the US (drunken-fireworksDay), so if any of you guys see this before tomorrow let me know what you think.

I've been on vacation for the past week out in the wilderness away from computers, cell phones, etc. I just got back to the city (and my computer) last night and I was so excited to see that you guys got started while I was gone. Yeah!! Chensio, you rock!! Your piece is amazing...really awesome! Do you guys all have your moleskines yet? I've got mine and I am going to start working on my piece today. I noticed that Lady Orlando is set up to recieve Chensio's book next. Has anyone else started, or is close to finishing their first piece? I will try to get mine done this week so who wants to trade? Lets have everyone (who hasn't already) create a post to let everyone else know if you started or not and an estimation of when you will be ready to mail off your book so we can come up with an exchange order.

Hey everyone! Just checking to see how you all are doing and if you all have ordered and/or received your moleskines. I just got mine in the mail a few days ago. We can start as soon as we all have them, or I guess each of us can start the first drawing in our own books as we get them. As you get your moleskines and start drawing post pics here and whatever else you want of the whole process so we can all see what everyone else is up to. I guess we need to work out a mailing order, but maybe we should wait to see who finishes their drawings first and then work it out from there. Some other groups have used themes and media restrictions for each book. If any of you want to do a theme, go ahead. I'm just going to keep my book open to whatever, because I love everyone's individual styles and imagery so I just want to see what you guys come up with.
We have such an amazing and talented group of artists and I can't wait to see what we create in these books!! Lets Make Some Art!

This group, founded by R-A-T-T-Y (USA), is an extension of the Moleskine Exchange. This blog will follow the adventure of a group of artists around the world, in a Japanese fold Moleskine sketchbook exchange.

Each artist will set off with a small Japanese (accordian) folded Moleskine. Creating a drawing, collage, or painting, then send on to the next artist. Each artist will draw on a couple of spreads (3-4 pages) then send it on to the next artist. When the artists book is filled, it will be returned to the owner with images created by artist around the world. Each artist has a month to make an entry. The outcome will be a pleasant and surprising adventure, as artists are encouraged to interact and merge their art with others.

The concept:

1. The artists start with the Japanese fold Moleskine - Name, address, email address written in book.

2. Each artist gets 1 month to make a sketchbook entry, and mail it to the next person. The order is listed to the right.

3. Each artist will do 3-4 pages each round.

4. Artists are encouraged to interact with other images in the book. Please be respectful.

5. When the book is full, when one side of the unfolded book is filled, the book will be sent back to its original owner. That artist may continue by buying a new book and sending it to the next person.

6. If a person decides not to continue, she will simply keep her book when it comes back to her. She should email all of the participants to say she is not going to continue. We will decide, then, if we want to find a new person.

7. Please communicate regularly via email. Let each person know that you have received/sent the book. The goal is to have a dialogue. Any comments and questions are welcome.
